BMW ActiveE

In 2011 the future will bring the BMW Concept ActiveE - an innovative electric vehicle based on the BMW 1 Series Coupe this is completely suitable for everyday use and is equipped with characteristic BMW driving dynamics and zero emissions.

The basis: the BMW 1 Series Coupe. The implementation: a fully electric vehicle with four seats, 100 liters of trunk capacity and a true BMW when it comes to driving dynamics. BMW's lithium-ion battery replaces the engine, transmission and fuel and the electric motor with 125 kW (170hp) sits directly behind the rear axle and provides maximum torque of 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). It accelerates the vehicle in less than 9 seconds from zero to 100 km/h (0-60 mph in approx. 8.5 seconds). The drive train delivers a range of approximately 160 kilometers (100 miles) in everyday use. Charge time is a mere 3 hours in Europe (4.5 hours in North America) and a smartphone app keeps you informed about the battery's charge condition.

This electric vehicle was not designed from the ground up, but knowing the minds of the BMW design team, it should perform well.
